The workshop on Inflammation fifth edition will take in the oldest scientific institution of Brazil, The Museu Nacional (National Museum, founded in 1818 and since 1946 is part of the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro). The Museu Nacional is also an integral part of the affective memory of all Rio’s inhabitants, but especially for those Cariocas with science and biology inclinations. Everyone has a special memory of their first visit to the Museum as a child and was devastated when a fire consumed the museum building and more than 90% of the collection on September 2nd, 2018. The past five years have witnessed a remarkable collective effort of the staff and institutions from Brazil and all over the world to salvage and rebuild the remains of the collection and its historic building. 2024 will mark the conclusion of the first phase of the efforts to rebuild the Museu Nacional. The V Workshop on Inflammation will be part of this commemoration celebrating the resilience and ingenuity of the Brazilian scientific endeavor amidst adversity.
