V Railway Engineering Symposium

The Railway Engineering Symposium begun in 2017, created by Brazilian researches of the State University of Campinas (Unicamp), Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES), Politechnic School of the University of São Paulo (Poli-USP) and Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of São Paulo (IFSP) as a forum to broadcast results from researches funded by the Vale Chairs Program. In our first edition we receive a limited amount of participants, hosting around 80 people.

Since then, the event has grown substantially between 2018 and 2019, attracting more and more attention both in the Academy and in the industrial sector. For the 2020 edition the Symposium was planned to occur during two days, because of the increase in the number of technical sessions required. Unfortunately, the Covid-19 pandemics had the Symposium postponed and the Organizing Committee hosted a series of Webinars instead. The web speaks can be found on YouTube.

In 2021 the fourth edition of the Symposium was held online and Santa Cecília University (Unisanta), Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF), and the Military Institute of Engineering (IME) joined the Organizing Committee. Around 500 people participated on the event, watching technical presentations and discussions that spanned two whole days. Three foreign researchers were invited to speak about their most recent findings. Big players of the railway market sponsored the 2021 edition, including freight railroads (Vale, RUMO, and MRS) and rolling stock manufacturers (Greenbrier Maxion and Amsted Rail).

Now the Railway Engineering Symposion reaches its fifth edition raising the stakes! This year, besides our technical presentations, we've opened a Call for Papers. The approved papers will be published in our Proceedings with ISBN and DOI numbers.
