Transportation
Getting to Porto Alegre
Usually, visitors from abroad arrive either in São Paulo (Guarulhos International Airport GRU (https://www.gru.com.br/en) or in Rio de Janeiro (Galeão International Airport GIG (https://www.riogaleao.com/passageiros). Everybody, including those in transit to other cities in Brazil, is supposed to pick up their baggage at these airports for customs. After exiting the arrival hall, passengers have to check in again in order to proceed to other Brazilian cities including Porto Alegre. Please be advised to allow at least 3 hours between arrival and departure to the final destination.
The final destination of your flight should be the Porto Alegre International Airport POA (https://portoalegre-airport.com.br/en). This airport receives domestic flights from several Brazilian cities and international flights from some Latin American countries and Portugal.
