On the second day of our meeting you can choose among 3 all day field trips on different aspects of forest health.

 

Nursery and Diseases Management

All plantations begin at the nursery and we need to make sure that our seedlings are healthy. In this tour we will visit a eucalypt nursery and discuss their challenges. After that, we'll go to the field to have a look on diseases symptoms caused by pathogens like Ceratocystis   

 

Leaf-Cutter Ants Management

Leaf-cutter ants are a native pest challenge on commercial plantations in South America. In this field trip we will see some ants nests and have discussion about these insects behaviour and management strategies.

 

Eucalypt Pests

Mato Grosso do Sul state was chosen to host our event due to the extensive eucalypt plantations area. In this field trip we will see what kind of native and exotic pests occur on the field and discuss their management strategies.

 

Note that because many pests have seasonal occurrence more information on the field trips will be added close to the event, depending on what forest health challenges are occuring at the time.
