Adolfo Henrique de Moraes Silva

Dr. Adolfo Moraes is author of many publications and one book chapter in the field of nuclear and electronic magnetic resonance. He studied physics, received a master?s degree in physics (2011) and a PhD in Biological Chemistry (2014). After a postdoctoral fellowship at the Brazilian Nacional Center of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (CNRMN) with Fabio Almeida and Ana Paula Valente, he was appointed assistant professor (2016) and full professor of physical chemistry and spectroscopy in 2019 at the Department of Chemistry of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). In 2017, He founded and is the actual Group Leader of the Laboratory of Macromolecular Chemistry (MacroMol), where he has mentored many undergrad, master and PhD students in the graduate programs in Chemistry and in Biochemistry and Immunology. His areas of interest are Biomolecular NMR Spectroscopy, Biophysics and Structural Biology of proteins. His group main question is ?how does molecular dynamics impact protein function and recognition??. Nowadays, his group is studying a variety of proteins, which importance ranges from biocatalysis, cancer, especially chronic myelogenous leukemia, cardiovascular diseases, and proteins from arboviruses as Dengue and Zika, via NMR spectroscopy and other biophysical methods.
