INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMISSION OF WORKSHOP PROPOSALS FOR THE XX BRAZILIAN CONGRESS OF BIOMECHANICS (XX CBB)

The XX CBB Organizing Committee will provide the opportunity for national and international researchers and companies to hold workshops during the XX CBB. The workshops will take place on April 19, 2023. No support for tickets, accommodation nor registration will be provided for the organizers of the workshops. Part of the amount charged for the workshop will be made available to those responsible for the workshop (30% of the total amount collected from the workshop registration).

1. Purpose

Provide the opportunity for researchers and companies to develop courses on practical topics, equipment and software, and assist in the development of knowledge in the area of biomechanics.

2. Feature of the workshop

Unlike symposia and scientific presentations, workshops aim to teach, improve and develop skills in a specific topic, and may be related to intervention and rehabilitation techniques, use of equipment, new technologies, among others, applied to biomechanics.

3. Workshop format

The workshop may last 2, 4 or 6 hours, which will be scheduled: 2-hour workshop - morning period (from 9:30 to 11:30 am), 4-hour workshop - afternoon period (from 1:00 to 5:00 pm), and 6-hour workshop - morning (from 9:30 to 11:30 am) and afternoon (from 1:00 to 5:00 pm) on April 19, 2023. The workshop organizers are responsible for the content, dynamics, specific equipment and the number of speakers. The organization of the XX CBB will provide a place and equipment for the presentations (Datashow). Companies wishing to organize a workshop must participate as exhibitors at the XX CBB.

4. Documents required for submission of proposals

1. Name, academic background, affiliation and e-mail of the workshop organizers.

2. Thematic area of the workshop: clinical biomechanics; sport biomechanics; musculoskeletal biomechanics; teaching biomechanics; ergonomics; assistive technology and prosthetics; locomotion and posture; models and data analysis in biomechanics; and motor control.

3. Title of the workshop (maximum 20 words).

4. Brief description of the workshop, indicating the relevance and practical potential of the workshop for the field of biomechanics (maximum 300 words).

5. Workshop content (maximum 100 words per abstract).

6. Infrastructure required.

5. Selection

Proposals will be analyzed by the Scientific Committee of the XX CBB, which will use the following evaluation criteria:

a) Relevance of the workshop to the biomechanics area.

b) Practical potential of the workshop.

c) Potential interest for the public of the XX CBB.

d) Feasibility of the workshop.

e) Thematic area of the workshop (the selected workshops will be distributed equally among the thematic areas of the XX CBB, considering that all areas receive registration).

Proposals must be submitted in the participant area on the event page from August 31 to October 15, 2022. The result will be available until October 30, 2022, on the Brazilian Society of Biomechanics (SBB) and XX CBB websites, and by email to all applicants. Workshop organizers must be registered at XX CBB, with the exception of organizers linked to the selected companies. In the case of companies, they must participate as exhibitors at the XX CBB.
