Alvicler Magalhães
UFRJ - Brazil - Small MoleculesProfessor at the Department of Organic Chemistry, Institute of Chemistry, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro since 2018. For almost two years, he coordinated the Analytical Center and the Information Technology group of the Amazon Biotechnology Center - CBA. Between 2015 and 2016, he carried out a postdoctoral internship at Prof. Leonard J. Mueller at the University of California, Campus Riverside (UCR) in applied solid-state NMR. He was a professor at the State University of Campinas (IQ-UNICAMP) from 2014 to 2018. He holds a B.Sc. in Chemistry from the Federal University of São Carlos (1995), a M.Sc. in Inorganic Chemistry from the Federal University of São Carlos (1998) and a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the Federal University of São Carlos
(2002). He was a young FAPESP researcher at the São Carlos Institute of Physics, at the University of São Paulo. He worked for 3 years at the Farmanguinhos/FIOCRUZ drug factory, where he implemented the use of high-field NMR in quality control of drugs and pharmaceutical assets. He has experience in Chemistry, with emphasis on Molecular Dynamics, Structure, Conformation, and Stereochemistry, acting mainly in the structural characterization of drugs, organic compounds, and biomolecules, as well as molecular characterization (metabolome) of organic fluids, animal and plant tissues, and inorganic compounds using NMR techniques in solid state, semi-solids or solution. He currently coordinates the FLIP 2 NMR laboratory at LADETEC-UFRJ.
