Cláudio Francisco Tormena

Claudio holds a bachelor's degree in Chemistry from the State University of Maringá (1995). In 2000, he obtained a Ph.D. in Sciences from the State University of Campinas, having completed a sandwich internship from 1998 to 1999 at the University of Liverpool in England, under the supervision of Professor R. J. Abraham. He conducted a post-doctoral internship at IQ-UNICAMP from April 2000 to July 2003. He is currently a full professor MS-6 at IQ-UNICAMP. He is a member of the Advisory Board of Magnetic Resonance in Chemistry, was an affiliated member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences from 2007 to 2012, and is a full member of the Academy of Sciences of the State of São Paulo. His research area focuses on nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, with primary interests in the experimental and theoretical study of chemical shifts and scalar coupling constants, evaluation of heteronuclear scalar couplings as a source of information in determining relative stereochemistry and conformational preferences of organic compounds, and the development of new pulse sequences and their applications in structural determination of compounds in mixtures.
