Our tour begins at the Ópera metro station, the gateway to historic Madrid, where centuries of history and tradition intertwine beneath the sculpture of Queen Isabella II. We will walk through the streets of “Madrid de los Austrias”, exploring its most emblematic corners. We will visit the exterior of the Royal Palace, the official residence of the Spanish monarchs, and observe the Arab wall, a vestige of the medieval city that connects us to its origins. We will continue along Calle Mayor, a historic avenue that retains its original layout, to Plaza de la Villa, the former centre of municipal power with its stately homes and the famous Casa de la Villa. We will continue to the Plaza Mayor, a symbol of Madrid life, which has witnessed markets, celebrations and public events since the 17th century, to reach the Puerta del Sol, the urban centre and meeting point for Madrileños. We will end our walk by returning to Ópera via Calle Arenal, enjoying the lively atmosphere and architecture that characterises this city.
