M. Francesca Cotrufo is Professor of Soil and Crop Sciences at Colorado State University and an internationally recognized soil ecologist. She studies litter decomposition, soil organic matter, and carbon-climate interactions to inform sustainable land management and climate policy. Author of over 180 publications and a book on stable isotopes, she serves as Editor of Global Change Biology and is a Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher. Cotrufo has received major awards including the SSSA Soil Science Research Award and the ASA-CSSA-SSSA Mentoring Award. She is also co-founder of Cquester Analytics, advancing soil carbon measurement at scale.
