CHARLES RICE

Charles (Chuck) Rice is a University Distinguished Professor in the Department of Agronomy and holds the Vanier University Professorship at Kansas State University. Dr. Rice teaches courses and conducts research on soil carbon and nitrogen, soi health, microbial ecology, and the impacts of climate change on agricultural and grassland ecosystems. Internationally, he served on the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, authoring reports on Climate Change in 2007 and 2014. He is a Fellow of the Soil Science Society of America, the American Society of Agronomy, Sigma Xi, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. In 2020, Dr. Rice received the title of “National Associate” of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine.
