Menglan Duan
China University of Petroleum - BeijingProfessor Menglan Duan, born in Feb., 1966, obtained his PhD of Mechanical Engineering at the China University of Petroleum (CUP) in 1993, and worked for the Institute of Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the China Classification Society respectively before joining the CUP in 2006. He has been working in the fields of structure mechanics and ocean engineering in the past 32 years, publishing about 500 technical papers including 120 SCI indexed journal papers and obtaining 100 patents. His creative research has produced a large number of solutions for engineering challenges in platform structures, subsea pipelines and risers, subsea production systems, etc. in China’s offshore oil/gas development. 43 PhD and about 150 MS students have been granted degrees under his supervision. He was promoted at a position of research professor in 1999, and is now the dean of College of Safety and Ocean Engineering at the China University of Petroleum.
