Fascinating Insights into head muscle development and evolution in vertebrates

My lecture will show the evolution of head muscles from chordates like lamprey over sharks and skates to lungfish, amphibians, and finally to mammals. I will present gain and loss of muscles in diverse taxa as well as conserved developmental mechanisms that are responsible for head muscle development in all vertebrates.
