Registration

The XVII International Symposium on Genetics and Breeding (SIGM) will have a commemorative character, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Graduate Program in Genetics and Breeding at the Federal University of Viçosa (PPGGM-UFV) and the centennial of UFV. The event will bring together current students, alumni, undergraduate and graduate students, professors, researchers, professionals, and other participants from the fields of Genetics, Breeding, Agricultural Sciences, Biological Sciences, and related areas. The initiative will promote the integration of the academic community connected to the Graduate Program in Genetics and Breeding at the Federal University of Viçosa.

Participation in the event is free of charge, but the number of spots is limited.

Initial Allocation of Spots

The spots will be distributed proportionally among the following categories:

  • Current PPGGM students;

  • Students from graduate programs in related fields;

  • PPGGM alumni;

  • Alumni from graduate programs in related fields;

  • Undergraduate students;

  • External participants.

If any category does not fill all its available spots, the Organizing Committee may reallocate them among other categories, taking into account the demand and the waiting list.

Pre-Registration

Filling out the form corresponds to a pre-registration and does not automatically guarantee participation in the event.

The requests will be analyzed considering:

  • The category informed by the participant;

  • The number of available spots;

  • The order in which the pre-registrations were received.

If the number of interested parties exceeds the number of available spots, candidates may be placed on the waiting list.

Supporting Documentation

To validate the pre-registration, it will be necessary to attach a document proving the selected participation category. One of the following documents, among others, will be accepted:

Current student of the Graduate Program in Genetics and Breeding (PPGGM-UFV) or a related graduate program

  • Certificate of enrollment issued by the SAPIENS system;

  • Updated academic transcript;

  • Declaration of affiliation issued by the program's coordination or secretariat.

Alumni of the Graduate Program in Genetics and Breeding (PPGGM-UFV)

  • Master's or doctoral diploma;

  • Defense minutes or certificate;

  • Cover page of the dissertation or thesis containing the Program's identification;

  • Academic transcript of the completed course;

  • Certificate of completion issued by UFV;

  • Official document proving the degree obtained from the PPGGM.

Undergraduate student at the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV)

  • Certificate of enrollment issued by the SAPIENS system;

  • Declaration signed by a professor affiliated with the PPGGM proving participation in a research project, scientific initiation, internship, research group, or other activity related to the Program.

Note: The Organizing Committee may request complementary documentation whenever deemed necessary to validate the informed category.

Registration Confirmation

After the analysis of the pre-registrations, the selected participants will receive an email with instructions and the link to complete the official registration on the Conveniar platform.

The official registration must be completed within 72 hours after the notification email is sent. Failure to meet this deadline will result in the loss of the spot, which will be made available to participants on the waiting list.

Rules for Undergraduate Students

Undergraduate students will have priority in filling spots if they submit an abstract for presentation at the event.

Preference will also be given to students who have an academic affiliation with the PPGGM through:

  • Participation in research projects;

  • Advising or co-advising by professors affiliated with the Program;

  • Scientific initiation;

  • Internships;

  • Participation in research groups;

  • Other activities related to the Program.

In the pre-registration form, the student must indicate whether they intend to submit an abstract. Abstracts must be submitted by August 1, 2026, through the event's official platform (Galoá).

If the student indicates the intention to submit an abstract but fails to do so within the established deadline, they will lose priority in securing a spot and will compete on equal terms with other students who did not submit papers, which may even result in the loss of their spot at the event.

Students awarded a spot through this modality commit to presenting their work as a poster during the event's scientific paper presentation session. Failure to fulfill this obligation will result in the loss of the paper presentation certificate.

Important

By completing the pre-registration, the participant declares they are aware that this step does not guarantee an immediate spot at the event and agrees to regularly check the provided email address to receive communications and guidelines regarding the official registration.
