Abstracts

Thematic lines for abstract submission

  1. Measuring, monitoring, reporting and verification (MMRV): Innovative methods for quantifying and monitoring soil carbon stock change using measurement, sensing and modelling technologies

  2. Resilience and adaptation capacity in natural and managed systems

  3. Sustainable agricultural and forestry production for carbon sequestration, soil health and food security (technologies, solutions, climate change mitigation and adaptation, traditional/ancestral practices and knowledge, overall ecosystem health and biodiversity)

  4. Certification of sustainability, traceability, mitigation/adaptation capacity, including soil carbon or soil health (case studies, regional perspectives)

Guidelines for preparing an abstract

Abstracts should be written in English, however, we accept texts in Portuguese and Spanish.

Simultaneous translation will be available during the event in three languages: English, Spanish and Portuguese.

A concise and factual abstract of no more than 400 words is required (the title and the authors’ information - names and affiliated institutions - are not included in the 400 words).

It should report concisely the main findings of the research. To this end, the abstract is structured in six parts:

  1. CONTEXT OR PROBLEM to present the background and issues;

  2. OBJECTIVE OR RESEARCH QUESTION where the main hypothesis is presented;

  3. METHODS to provide an overview of the materials and methods used;

  4. RESULTS to present the main findings using quantitative facts where possible;

  5. CONCLUSIONS to present the main interpretation of the results;

  6. IMPLICATIONS OR SIGNIFICANCE to emphasise the innovative aspects of the results and their relevance to the selected thematic line of the submission. If applicable, indicate the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG - 2030 Agenda) related to the topic of the abstract.

The abstract is a stand alone document. For this reason, references are not allowed. Non-standard or uncommon abbreviations should be avoided, but if essential they must be defined at their first mention in the text.
