The SNAP software (Sentinel Application Platform) developed by the European Space Agency (ESA) is a free software with a friendly interface, which allows the processing of SAR images in a very simple way. The use of SAR images has become increasingly a differential when it comes to the application of remote sensing techniques. Its main advantage over optical sensors is that it is less influenced by characteristics of the atmosphere, such as clouds and aerosols. In addition, SAR images are characterized by having a greater penetration of terrestrial surface targets. From the processing of SAR images, it is possible to extract various information about the target, such as polarimetric decompositions, backscattering coefficients, interferometric coherence, among others, which can help in the most diverse applications. In this way, with this mini course, the student will be able to understand and process SAR images, extracting various information to be used in their professional applications.
