Type:
THEMATIC SESSION
Category:
THEMATIC SESSION
Place:
JOAQUINA
Date and time:
11:30 to 13:40 on 04/04/2023
Recent advances in Artificial Intelligence (AI) make it possible to foresee that forest areas can be mapped automatically with similar or superior accuracy to that obtained by visual interpretation. This session presents the state-of-the-art and recent research results in AI focused on forest monitoring. In particular, the session presents the results of a project involving Brazilian and German research institutions to develop Deep Learning based solutions for mapping deforestation and secondary vegetation in Brazilian and Central European biomes.
