THEMATIC SESSION

Place:

BRAVA

Date and time:

11:30 to 13:40 on 04/03/2023

Altimetry data have direct application in the areas of agriculture, engineering projects, geological risk mapping, delimitation of hydrographic basins and their morphometric and hydrological parameters, among others. This session will cover (1) methods for evaluating the quality of digital elevation models, including for global DEMs that can meet the requirements of a wide variety of users; (2) in the production of continuous cartographic bases of the IBGE and the cartographic base of the state of Amapá. Challenges and needs regarding the quality of altimetry data will be presented in this part. The cartographic base of Amapá was acquired between 2014 and 2019, having as main input airborne radar images, P and X bands, with a resolution of 2.5 m and 5 m. Processing issues from this database, as well as the opportunities generated by it, will be shown; (3) the application of altimetry oriented to the generation of national hydrographic basins and, when possible, of the entire South America generated by the National Water and Sanitation Agency (ANA) through automatic computational processes.
