Besides my roles as President of the European Federation of Medicinal Chemistry and as Past President of the Division of Medicinal Chemistry and Chemical Biology of the Swiss Chemical Society, I lead the Global Discovery Chemistry imaging group at Novartis.

The objective of the imaging group is to identify and develop novel molecular imaging tools, to facilitate clinical trials and bring our drugs to patients faster. We are collaborating with external partners and a number of internal drug discovery projects in varied disease areas. Several tracers have reached clinical use, while others are progressing towards the clinic.

In my previous role, I was intimately involved in several successful drug discovery projects and led the Neuroscience Chemistry Department at Novartis. Together with highly competent and result-oriented drug hunters, we discovered several drug candidates and brought them into clinical development. Some of these projects are currently in phase II and III clinical development.
