Prof. Adriano Aguzzi

Adriano Aguzzi is a Professor of Neuropathology and Director of the Institute of Neuropathology at the University of Zurich. Internationally recognized for his contributions, he has received numerous prestigious awards, including the EMBO Medal, the Robert Koch Award, and the Baillet Latour Health Prize, among many others. His work combines cutting-edge approaches in functional genomics and large-scale genetics to uncover key mechanisms involved in the prion life cycle. His latest findings reveal unexpected links between cellular metabolism, mechanosensation, and the post-transcriptional regulation of the prion protein, opening new therapeutic perspectives for neurodegenerative diseases.
