Yeshayahu (Ishi) Talmon

Yeshayahu (Ishi) Talmon is Professor Emeritus of Chemical Engineering, at the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa, Israel. His research group studies the self-aggregation of molecules in the liquid phase. Electron microscopy at cryogenic temperatures is their main experimental tool.

Ishi holds a B.Sc. (summa cum laude) and an M.Sc. in chemical engineering from the Technion, earned his Ph.D. in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science of the University of Minnesota (1979), and joined the faculty of the Technion. At the Technion he served as the Dean of the Department of Chemical Engineering and as the Head of the Technion Russell Berrie Nanotechnology Institute (RBNI), and was the incumbent of the Wolfson Chair in Chemical Engineering. Prof. Talmon is an honorary member of the Israel Society of Microscopy and the Israel Institute of Chemical Engineers. He received a Doctor of Science honoris causa, from the University of Lund, Sweden (2015), and the Overbeek Gold Medal of the European Colloid and Surface Society (2019). He was elected member of the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities.
