14th International Symposium on Polyelectrolytes

Paul Dubin Early Career Award Lecture


To recognize outstanding research accomplishments by early-career scientists working in the field of polyelectrolytes. Recognition consists of a special award lecture given at the biennial meeting of the International Symposium on Polyelectrolytes, including travel support. A certificate citing the relevant accomplishments of the awardee will be presented at the conference. The recipient will also be asked to give a plenary lecture on their research.

Establishment and Support

This award was established in 2021 by the International Organizing Committee of the International Symposium on Polyelectrolytes (ISP) in memory of Prof. Paul Dubin and his contributions to the field of polyelectrolytes. Prof Dubin was one of the founders of ISP, and was instrumental in building the momentum that the symposium series now enjoys.

Rules and Eligibility

The award and lectureship will be given to one person recognized by their peers for their outstanding accomplishments and clear promise for research in the field of polyelectrolytes. To be eligible as a nominee:

i) should have received their terminal degree (e.g., PhD) less than 15 years before the nomination deadline,
ii) may be in a pre-tenure position, and
iii) in special cases, may be a postdoc poised to transition to a faculty position.

Nomination and Selection Process

Deadline: October 1, 2024


Individuals may be nominated or may self-nominate.

The submission package should be submitted as a single PDF file emailed by the deadline to Raymond Farinato ( and must include:

1) The abstract for their presentation.
2) Two letters of recommendation (two-page limit) evaluating the qualifications of the nominee for this award. In particular, the letter should indicate what is the outstanding idea / contribution of the nominee.
3) The curriculum vitae for the nominee (five-page limit).
4) A list of their most important publications.
5) Up to five reprints or preprints.

2025 Selection Committee Members

The selection committee expects to determine and notify the recipient of the award by November 1, 2024. This will be well in advance of the 2025 Symposium on Polyelectrolytes conference, which will be held at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP) in Brazil from July 13 – 18, 2025 (see
