Licio Augusto Velloso

Full Professor at the Department of Internal Medicine at UNICAMP. Member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences and of the Academy of Sciences of the State of São Paulo. Graduated in Medicine at UNICAMP in 1986. Specialized in Surgery at UNICAMP in 1989. Doctor (PhD) in Medicine at the University of Uppsala, Sweden in 1993. Post-doctorate in Medicine at UNICAMP, with a CNPq scholarship between 1994 and 1997. at Harvard in 1995 at the Joslin Diabetes Center. He works in the investigation of molecular and cellular mechanisms that participate in the genesis of obesity and diabetes mellitus. Advisor of the Doctoral Thesis awarded the Capes Grand Prize for Theses, Carl Peter Von Dietrich in 2006, awarded to the student Cláudio Teodoro de Souza.
