Dr. José Freire da Silva Neto

He has experience in the field of Genetics, with an emphasis on Molecular and Microbial Genetics, working mainly on the following topics: stress response, gene expression regulation, sigma factors, transcription factors, homeostasis of the metals iron, zinc, and manganese, oxidative stress, and bacterial virulence. The current focus of the laboratory is the study of secretion systems, transcription factors, gene expression regulation, and virulence in the environmental pathogenic bacterium Chromobacterium violaceum.
