Javier Trejos studied Mathematics at the University of Costa Rica and obtained a doctorate in Applied Mathematics in Toulouse, France, in 1994. He has published mainly on the relations between combinatorial optimization with data analysis and clustering methods. He served as dean of the Faculty of Science (2012-2020) and is also involved in teaching innovation projects. He also leaded the Space for Advanced Studies of the University of Costa Rica-UCREA (2016-2019).
