COMUNICON AWARD

All papers approved and submitted to the 9th Meeting of Postgraduate Working Groups on Communication and Consumption will be considered eligible for the COMUNICON Award. It proposes to recognize the excellence of academic works in the area of communication and consumption. The Judging Commission is composed of internal and external researchers from PPGCOM ESPM. 

RULES:

I. Definition and objectives.

Art. 1 - The COMUNICON Award proposes to recognize the excellence of academic and scientific papers presented at the Meeting of Work Groups in Communication and Consumption of the International Congress in Communication and Consumption (COMUNICON), organized biennially by the Post-Graduate Program in Communication and Consumption Practices of ESPM.

Art. 2 - The main objectives of the COMUNICON Award are: a) To expose and highlight studies and research of quality, elaborated in the area of communication and consumption. b) To promote the diffusion of scientific works of excellence in the area of communication and consumption. c) To stimulate the production of scientific knowledge for the field of communication from researches carried out at the communication and consumption interface. d) To encourage critical reflection in research on communication and consumption practices. e) To promote innovation in communication and consumption researches.

II. Categories.

Art. 3 - The COMUNICON Award will be granted to the best papers presented at the Meeting of Working Groups on Communication and Consumption of the International Congress on Communication and Consumption (COMUNICON), in the following Categories, defined based on the title of its main author, informed at the time of submission of the work to the congress: a) Undergraduate and/or graduate students. b) Master's students. c) Masters. d) Doctoral students. e) Doctors.

§ 1 - In case of articles written in co-authorship and nominated for the Award, the Category in which the work will compete will be defined based on the title of its main author, as indicated at the time of submission to the event. III. Scientific Committee, Judging Committee and Stages.

Art. 4 - The Scientific Committee of COMUNICON Award will be composed of all the Coordinators of Work Groups of the Meeting of Work Groups in Communication and Consumption of the International Congress in Communication and Consumption (COMUNICON).

Art. 5 - The evaluation process will follow a two-step process. In the first stage, up to 30 (thirty) days after the Communication and Consumption Working Groups Meeting - which takes place within the International Congress on Communication and Consumption (COMUNICON) - the Coordinators of each of the Working Groups will designate a committee to evaluate the works in the scope of the WG that will indicate to the Judging Committee only one work to compete for each of the Categories described in Chapter II, Art. 3. The nominated papers, and their respective authors, will be announced on the congress website.

§ 1 - The evaluation commission of each of the Working Groups may not select articles in any of the Categories if they do not recognize sufficient merit in the works presented for nomination for the Award.

Art. 6 - In the second evaluation stage, the COMUNICON Prize Judging Committee will be formed, made up of three members of the Scientific Committee and four external guests, all nominated by the Collegiate of PPGCOM-ESPM.

Art. 7 - The following are criteria that guide the nomination of the works by the Scientific Committee and the decision of the Judging Committee: a) Social and scientific relevance of the theme of the works. b) Relevance of the debate raised by the theme to communication and consumption studies. c) Theoretical and methodological adequacy and acuity. d) Uniqueness and innovation in the contribution to the field of communication and consumption practices.

Art. 8 - The Judging Committee will have up to 6 (six) months, counting from the end of the Communication and Consumption Working Groups Meeting to deliberate and make known the winning works of the COMUNICON Prize.

IV. Award

Art. 9 - The award is symbolic in nature. The announcement of the winners, as well as the members of the Judging Committee, will be made on the congress website. The authors of the winning entries in each category will receive a certificate.

§ 1 - The Judging Committee may award Honorable Mentions to works nominated but not awarded, using the same judging criteria, as per Art. 7 of Chapter III. The authors of the Honorable Mentions, if any, will also receive a certificate.

Art. 10 - The cases not covered by these regulations will be solved by the Collegiate of the Stricto Sensu Graduate Program in Communication and Consumption Practices (PPGCOM) of ESPM.
