International Congress of Science and Society

Welcome to International Congress of Science and Society

The International Science and Society Congress (CICS) is a biannual event at the Centro Universitário Santo Agostinho, held with the collaboration of researchers from various educational institutions in Brazil and abroad. The main purpose of CICS is to bring society closer to contemporary scientific practices. Thus, in addition to providing a space for dialogue and interaction between researchers from various parts of the world, it aims to deepen studies in the most diverse areas of knowledge.

The 1st International Science and Society Congress (1st CICS) will be held from October 4 to 7, 2023, at Centro Universitário Santo Agostinho, in Teresina, Piauí, with the theme: “Human and social development: from ideas to practices .

This is an event that tries to meet the challenges of an increasingly challenging and interconnected humanity, where researchers from Brazil and other countries have the opportunity to conduct increasingly transdisciplinary discussions on the many aspects of doing science.

CICS arises from the maturation of the Brazilian Science and Society Congress (CBCS), whose first edition took place in 2019, with the theme “Innovation, Diversity and Sustainability”. In 2021, between the 4th and 7th of October, the second edition of the CBCS was held, this time with the theme “Knowledge and Technology for Social Development”.

The International Science and Society Congress (CICS) brings new challenges: that of seeking international collaboration in science and technology (S&T), allowing the scientific enterprise to cross borders, creating bridges between the different scientific communities, thus expanding the possibilities of knowledge production.
