PhD Pedro Brandão

Pedro Brandão graduated in Pharmaceutical Sciences at Faculty of Pharmacy – University of Porto (FFUP) in 2011. He recently concluded his PhD in Chemistry – field of Catalysis and Sustainability at the University of Coimbra (2022), in cooperation with the University of Évora and Instituto Superior Técnico (IST). His doctoral studies focused on the development of new oxindole-based compounds with potential therapeutic applications, using sustainable catalytic multicomponent reaction approaches. 

With a strong background in synthetic organic chemistry and medicinal chemistry, he joined INEB/i3S as a Junior Researcher in the Molecular Biomaterials Group (2022). From September 2022, he will join Instituto Universitário Egas Moniz as Assistant Professor. His research focuses on sustainable drug discovery, multicomponent reactions, and the development of new catalytic processes.
