The Pará state is the largest producer of Piper nigrum in Brazil, with about 90% of national production, representing the third-largest producer in the world. In this sense, we evaluated essential oils in vitro, grafting, and the use of microorganisms to fusariosis control. The infection caused by Fusarium solani f. sp. piperis was monitored for 60 days to provide the essential oils and extracts. A significant relationship among Fusariosis tolerance and volatile compounds, the total phenolic content, enzymatic activities were observed in P. nigrum plants. The results suggested that metabolomic analysis can be applied to elucidate the resistance mechanism of P. nigrum and discrimination of cultivars as "tolerant" or "susceptible".
