It is with the hope of resistance that on October 24, 25 and 27, in the context of the 42nd National Meeting of ANPEd (National Association of Graduate Studies and Research in Education) and the WERA Focal Meeting 2025 (World Education Research Association), we will hold a Workshop of the Popular University of Social Movements (UPMS) in João Pessoa entitled 'Joys, Resistances and other possible worlds: social movements and the university in struggle against neoconservatism'. The UPMS is an initiative that was born at the World Social Forum (WSF) in 2003, with the aim of promoting the sharing of knowledge and expanding, articulating and strengthening the struggles of social movements. The UPMS is a common good of social movements and, as expressed in its Charter of Principles, 'constitutes an open space for the deepening of reflection, the democratic debate of ideas, the formulation of proposals, the free exchange of experiences and the articulation for effective actions of local, national and global social entities and movements that oppose the domination of the world by capitalism, colonialism, racism and patriarchy, against the human suffering caused by the injustices, exclusions, discriminations, dominations, oppressions that result from them
