This paper aims to present and analyze a national overview of the implementation process of the National Training Program for Teaching in EJA (ProfEJA), developed within the scope of the National Pact for Overcoming Illiteracy and Qualification of Youth and Adult Education, linked to SECADI/MEC. The program is aimed at training teachers, pedagogical teams from schools that offer EJA and literacy teachers from the Literate Brazil Program. In-service continuing training began in 2025, under the coordination of public higher education institutions, in partnership with the education networks. In this context, it is essential to discuss ProfEJA in the light of the challenges faced by public policies aimed at EJA.
