Under capitalism, automation lends itself to reducing costs, increasing production, exploitation, and de-skilling of workers, increasing unemployment and deepening the alienation and precariousness of labor. Technology, subsumed under the accumulation of capital, reinforces the neoliberal project that transforms education into a commodity, prioritizing efficiency, rankings and privatization. Thus, it is possible to observe an emptying of the pedagogical foundations of educational processes, privileging profit and expanding inequalities. Education is reduced to a managerial process that prioritizes technology and technical processes to the detriment of human formation. To resist this project, it is essential to understand technology as a socio-historical production, linking it to counter-hegemonic educational theories that overcome the mercantile logic and guarantee democratic access to knowledge.
