Lecture topics: ''Sample Preparation Strategies for Determination of Non-metals and their Species by Mass Spectrometry Techniques''

 

Professor at the Federal University of Pelotas, an affiliate member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences, and a titular member of the Brazilian Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences. She previously served as Director of the Analytical Chemistry Division of the Brazilian Chemical Society and is currently a board member of its main council. She also serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Analytical Atomic Spectrometry and the Brazilian Journal of Analytical Chemistry. She has delivered invited lectures in Brazil and abroad and has authored over 140 peer-reviewed international publications, 21 book chapters, and 5 patents, with an h-index of 32. Her work has earned her several prestigious awards, including the “For Women in Science 2012” from L’Oréal–UNESCO and the Brazilian Academy of Sciences, the “2018 JAAS Emerging Investigator Lectureship” from the Royal Society of Chemistry, and the “IUPAC Distinguished Women in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering” award in 2023.

Dr. Mesko specializes in developing greener analytical methods for food, pharmaceutical, and biological samples, employing ion chromatography and atomic spectrometry techniques. She also investigates the use of ultrasound and microwave technologies in food processing, aiming for more sustainable and efficient approaches.
