Roberto Gomes de Souza Berlinck

BS in Chemistry from the University of Campinas (1987). Doctorate of Science (Organic Chemistry) - Universite Libre de Bruxelles (1992). Professional activities include: Development of processes in organic synthesis with the Technological Development Company (Codetec, 1987), Development of processes in Phytochemistry at the Center for Multidisciplinary Research Chemical, Biological and Agricultural UNICAMP (CPQBA, 1987-1988 and 1992-1993 ). Professor (1993-2001), Associate Tenured Professor (2001-2010) and Full Professor (since 2011) at the Institute of Chemistry of São Carlos (IQSC), University of São Paulo (USP). Conducted post-doctorate in the Department of Chemistry, University of British Columbia (Vancouver, Canada) between 1997 and 1998. It acts as a lecturer and researcher in organic chemistry. He is coordinator and leader of Organic Chemistry of Natural Products (GQOPN) registered at CNPq. Research projects in progress in their primary objective GQOPN the discovery of natural products with biological activity, with potential medical use, biochemistry, biological and agrochemical. Due to its interdisciplinary nature, research conducted by GQOPN is developed in collaboration with researchers at the Federal University of São Carlos (São Carlos-SP), National Museum, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (Rio de Janeiro-RJ), University of Parana (Curitiba-PR), Federal University of Ceara (Fortaleza-CE), the Multidisciplinary Center for Chemical, Biological and Agricultural Unicamp (Campinas, SP), as well as foreign researchers from the University of British Columbia (Vancouver, Canada) and the University of Queensland (Brisbane, Australia). Research projects are aimed at investigating the structures and biological activities of secondary metabolites of marine invertebrates and microorganisms, and also from endophytic microorganisms.
